Description
Using a telephoto lens (or setting) near sand dunes allows one to capture angles, shadows, and shapes that are simply not possible close up. I took advantage of this principle in a recent trip to the Mesquite Flat dunes in Death Valley. From a particular vantage point his late November afternoon, these interesting horizontal, wispy shadows with vertical serrations appeared near the south end of the dunes. I got out my Canon SX60, set it to a strong zoom setting, and captured the evolving scene. I'm happy I did!
