From Carmel-by-the-Sea, follow Highway 1 South until you reach the Garrapata Trail on your right hand side. Park along side the road (safely!) and set out on a short hike along the trail down into the canyon. Be sure to wear long pants, socks and shoes or boots with grip. There is plenty of poison oak growing along the hiking trail and in the canyon, which you'll want to avoid contact with. The scenery is worth it!
This is the hidden wild calla lily field growing within the charming canyon leading into the Pacific. For just a few weeks out of the year in early spring, if you're lucky, you can see the calla lilies in full bloom against the ocean on the horizon.
