Description

Alluvial fans, the triangle-shaped deposit of gravel, sand, and even smaller pieces of sediment, such as silt (alluvium), are usually created as flowing water interacts with mountains, hills, or the steep walls of canyons as here in Cathedral Gorge. I positioned the camera as near the ground as possible, close to the main drainage channel which is only about six inches wide.
