If you’re driving south on 101, park at the Cape Cove Trailhead pull-out 0.3 miles south of the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. You’ll see signs at the trail for Spouting Horn. If you look out towards the ocean as you descend, you’ll see Thor’s Well near the edge. After you walk down the stairs, you can walk out onto the rocky coast to get a closer look.

Description

It took extreme courage and patience to catch the right wave at Thors Well. The well is actually somewhat elongated, but I shot it at an extreme angle to look more circular. Further, most photos are shot, but don't show the detail up close. You can see the small barnacles in my photo. This is an extreme and close angle which required getting the right timing, courage and wave to look directly into the belly of the beast. Took much water in the well makes for a less interesting and whited out photo. In order to get the right shot you need to be there at high tide or just after it. If you arrive at the wrong time there is too much or too little water.
