I love the magic light that occurs when a storm is just starting to break up. It was late December when I scheduled my trip to Grand Canyon and Sedona because the weather report predicted rain/snow in the area. It was early on Christmas day when I entered Sedona, and it was snowing. For awhile the snow was so heavy on the North side of town that the mountains were obscured from view. Finally it began to break up. This shot was taken in late afternoon as rays from the sun slipped beneath the clouds and struck the red rocks like a spotlight. it was the contrast between the dark, shadowed rocks and the spotlighted mountain that turned me on and kept me shooting until nearly sunset.
