Description

Nearly a two hour drive from my home, the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve was in the middle of a super-bloom and, wanting to miss the crowds as much as possible, as well as catching the early morning "magic-hour" light, I arose in the wee hours and began my trek. I arrived shortly after the sun arose over the desert hills. It was nearly two hours more before the poppies began to open in earnest. When they did, I found a spot alongside of one of the trails, worn into the land, where I could lay down in the trail and shoot them in all their magnificent glory from beneath, contrasting the intense orange of the desert flowers against the deep blue sky..
