I was roaming the Alta Vista Nature Reserve on the Palos Verdes Peninsula when I saw this beautiful girl climbing a hill across the highway, over looking the ocean. I felt there was something special about her so I continued to watch. She stopped at top of the hill, set her bag down, removed her cover-up and took out what appeared to be a yoga mat. She sat down and began to practice her morning meditations. The vision of her on the hill, communing with Nature, the ocean and Santa Catalina took on an almost spiritual quality, so I began to record images. Here she presents a tiny subject in a great big world, but she stands out because for one, the eye is always attracted to the human image, two - she sits at the interface between land and sea, three - she is stands out in the sun's reflection on the water, the brightest part of the image, and the rule-of-thirds positioning further points to her as the main subject of the composition. Spiritual, indeed.
