Arriving in the park the previous day with anticipation of shooting sunrise up on Cadilac Mt. I headed up to the summit in the early afternoon in hopes of finding an excellent location to shoot the next morning. Having the opportunity to scout gave me the best chance to find a great place and not waste what turned out to spectacular color the following day. Noting the location, I left and returned the following day in the dark. When the dawn light started to develop, I started playing with various compositions. The early light was evolving into what tuned out to be one of the most colorful dawn skies I had seen in a while.
