Description

I live at 9,000 ft elevation in the foothills of the Wet Mountains in Colorado. The Spanish Peaks in this image are more than 13,000 ft tall, located at the Southern end of the Wet Mountain Valley and the twin peaks are occasionally visible for up to 80 miles. Autumn is a very special time out here when cold air masses drift into the valley and against the high mountains, creating spectacular - often lenticular - cloud formations over the long Wet Mountain Valley and especially over the Spanish Peaks. I took this photo from about 50 miles away and it felt like I was looking at another planet...
