Aaron Howell is an Afgan War Vet and Medal of Honor Recipient. In 2011 he stepped on an IED and lost both of his legs as well as most of his fingers. After a long rehab he discovered whitewater kayaking and quickly excelled. He moved to Western Maryland in 2015 to pursue the sport full time, living close to the world famous Upper Yough River. Aaron has now risen to be one of the top whitewater kayakers in the area, and regularly paddles the Class V+ Upper Blackwater River, as well as many other Class V+ creeks throughout the area. Here he is demonstrating his aggressive paddling style at Lil' Niagara on the Upper Yough.
