While in Newport Beach to photograph a vintage boat show, I wandered down to the beach in the evening. Overcast skies killed any chance of a sunset, so I focused in on the pier. I've always wanted to shoot one of these scenes. I don't live near to coast, so I don't get many opportunities. I buried my tripod legs in the sand and settled in on a 2.5 second exposure. This image reminds me that you can still make photographs, even if the light isn't the best.
