I rented a houseboat to explore and photograph Lake Powell for a week. My main destination was the Escalante Arm of the lake. I used a kayak to explore the various side canyons. This particular side canyon had the perfect combination of reflected light, completely calm water and just the right blue sky. Once I got the kayak into position to shoot the photo, I had to wait for all my paddle-stroke ripples to dissipate. I had to hand-hold my camera extremely still in order to take a series of pictures to create this HDR image.
