The concept I wanted to relay in this image is the transition between day and night, moon and sun. As the sun goes down, the full moon rises; likewise, as the full moon sets, the sun rises again. It is the latter scenario--the (just past) full moon setting as the sun rises--that I captured in this image, with Whitney Crest (High Sierra) as the foreground. It took some effort--and a couple of attempts--to get everything to line up perfectly. But on this particular morning, everything worked out perfectly, allowing me to capture the image I was seeking--all in a single frame.
