I had scouted the area during the day to find a good foreground subject to photograph the Milky Way. This particular hoodoo really stood out. Having previously hiked to this area, I was able to find it again that night. Once the Milky Way rose, it was a matter of finding the correct vantage point to compose the photograph. Since it was during a time of high meteorite activity, I was lucky enough to capture a few shooting stars in the image.
