Description

We often hear and see owls flying through our neighborhood at dusk year-round. However, this was mid-morning so it seemed strange to see a large male owl flying by. What really caught caught our attention was the owl was carrying his good-sized prey. I ran to grab my long lens to see what he caught. When I looked up into the palms where he landed, I was surprised to see that he was holding his catch over these two young owlets. At that time, I also noticed that the mother owl was keeping a watchful eye on her family from the next tree over. After taking a closer look at the mother and father, I can see based on the beak structure that the owlet on the left is male, and the one on the right is female.
