Tuesday night was some of the most amazing light I have seen! I had gotten a severe thunderstorm warning for the area around 6:30 that night so I packed up the camera gear and watched the radar and decided to head towards Monticello to see what kind of atmosphere it would create. Just as I arrived at this beautiful field of sunflowers the sun broke through under the heavy dark storm clouds creating an amazing yellow tone like you were looking through a filter! As I set up the camera and tripod huge drops of rain started to fall and the thunder was rolling closer and closer. I managed a few exposures by wiping the lens and keeping it covered with a lens cloth until the 10 second delay shutter fired the shot to keep the drops from hitting the lens. The thunder and lightening were getting pretty close and the rain started really coming down. So I hurried through the field and back to the truck to wait it out.
