The Alabama Hills are a few miles west of the town of Lone Pine in the Eastern Sierra region of California.

Mt. Whitney is the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada, dubbed "The Range of Light" by John Muir. It's also the highest point in the Lower 48 States. Its dramatic summit, rising over 10,000 feet from the Owens Valley a few miles away, is often highlighted in dramatic light.
