Description

Traveled to Haines, AK specifically to photograph the bald eagle congregation. The eagles congregate to eat the dead and dying salmon after the late spawning run up the Chilkat river. You walk along the river until you see the aggressive bald eagle behavior. Even though there are dead fish everywhere, they prefer to steal another eagle's fish. Usually, they come diving in with their talons out, trying to knock the other eagle off its feet to steal its fish. However, sometimes they land a short distance away, and march very deliberately, with a very menacing stare, in what I call “the Dracula Walk.”
