Shooting dunes can be a frustrating experience - so much there to photograph to difficult to come up with great compositions. Proper, angled lighting really helps, but slowly and cautiously moving around the dips between the dunes while looking for those aesthetic curves and shadows or perhaps wind blown sand bounding off the sandy peaks can be a real challenge. Small changes in position in the sand may open up totally different compositions. I tried working and area while not moving my base to limit tracks I would create in the sand, lessoning the chance of ruining potential shots that I had not yet noticed. Felt like I was working a crime scene. Planning my moved ahead of time so as not to disturb the landscape.
