Sprague Lake, Sunrise
Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

I have photographed Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park many times in all seasons, and I’m always trying to get the perfect shot. This last Summer at the end of August when the wildfires were burning across our state, they created beautiful sunrises and sunsets because of all the smoke in the air.
On this particular morning when I arrived at the lake the lighting and clouds were coming together to make for a beautiful sunrise. To my surprise when I approached the lake I noticed that it was not only
calm, which allowed a nice reflection, but that there was a moose
feeding in the middle of the shallow lake. I had more than enough time to set up my tripod and take many frames.
