This roadrunner and rock squirrel chased each other around for several minutes this morning, from the rock squirrel's burrow to and up into mesquite trees and back again - several times. They'd each act like not interested in the other and then take off again. Finally the squirrel tired of the game so the roadrunner went over to a group of doves and made them fly - one at a time! He then returned to the nearby wash (dry streambed). Rock squirrels are about the size of most tree squirrels but live in burrows in rocky arid areas; the rock squirrel is eating a mesquite bean pod. In Tucson, Arizona in the Sonoran Desert.
