On the Pawnee Pass Trail
About 14 miles North of Nederland along the peak to peak highway (Rte.72)
This image was taken on a long day hike Last September with my daughter and her friend that began at the Long Lake trailhead near Brainard Lake. We hiked the Isabelle Glacier Trail past Long Lake and up to Lake Isabel where we turned onto the Pawnee Pass Trail and really started climbing steeply towards Pawnee Pass on the Continental Divide at 12,500 ft. Our goal was to reach the summit of Shoshoni Peak which is one of the peaks pictured in this image. Unfortunately we lost the trail at Pawnee Pass. We attempted to scramble up a large boulder field to the top of the peak, but the going was very difficult and we decided to turn around. All in all a great hike on a gorgeous Colorado fall day!
