We were visiting the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania during an extremely rainy November period. This small inlet of the Rufigi River had been cut off, and had only a few inches of water left in the bottom. Although it was raining heavily at the time, the agitation and bubbles on the surface of the water are not from raindrops, they are from the myriads of Clarius catfish trapped just below the surface. The Yellow Billed Storks, Spoonbills, Grey Herons and Marabou Storks, as well as the local crocodiles and smaller wading birds, were having a field day. In the case of the stork in the picture, the catfish was just a little too large to go down the hatch easily. The stork walked around with the fish for several minutes, repositioning it over and over until everything was properly aligned, and down it went. I took the image with a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with a Canon EF 100-400 mm f/ 4.5-5.6 IS II USM lens with a Canon 1.4X III teleconverter. The exposure settings were 1/1000 sec, f/ 8.0, ISO 250, 560 mm.
