Description

My boyfriend has recently taken an interest in photography. It has been such a joy to share my passion for wildlife photography with him. I am fairly new to the area so we take every chance we get to go on little adventures and seek out local wildlife. He shares all of his favorite spots for wildlife sightings and I share everything I know about my favorite hobby. Recently we visited a lake known for its abundant bird life and waterfowl activity. From the flocks of pigeons and gulls soaring overhead, to the variety of ducks and geese swimming and diving in the lake; we could not keep up with fury of activity around us. Suddenly a hawk swooped in and disturbed the energy of the waterfowl. We had our cameras focused on the hawk, thinking there might be an opportunity to capture the predator hunting among the abundant prey surrounding us. After a few minutes of photographing the hawk, Cole said, "What are you doing?" I looked up, confused, thinking it was obvious what I was doing. I immediately realized he wasn't talking to me. I quickly turned around and was greeted by a very determined looking goose practically on top of me! While our attention was on the hawk, a gaggle of geese had surrounded us. And they were not shy! The geese were hungry and they were insisting that we feed them! Suddenly the geese were the predators and we were the prey!
Cole and I managed to snag a few quick shots of the angry avian agitators as we scurried away. We ended up with some great close up images of the famed Canada Goose as well as a silly story to tell! (I think this goose stole a part of my soul for this photo, but it was worth it!)
