Strong winds scoured open areas and created some interesting opportunities in a nearby marsh. In addition, open areas of water hadn't frozen in many areas so the cold temps and heavy snow created a slurry of ice and water for some more intimate compositions. I was XC skiing near this local marsh and noticed the leaf neatly placed within the bubbled ice. Unfortunately the leaf wasn't near the water's edge and not solid enough to support my weight, so I decided it was worth it to ski back to my car, get my big lens and tripod and head back out. As it turned out, the sun had come out on my return and brightened up the leaf and bubbles to give more color and depth.
