I traveled to Haines, AK specifically to photograph the bald eagle congregation. The eagles congregate to eat the dead and dying salmon after the late spawning run up the Chilkat river. After a few days of photographing eagle interactions and conflict, I wanted images of eagles flying and soaring across the incredible landscape. My goal was to photograph the eagles flying low enough that I could capture a side-view, rather than an under-belly shot from below. I wanted the image to appear that I was at the same level as the bird. It became a waiting game to obtain the image I envisioned. Even though countless birds flew by, the few images I got were well worth the effort.
