Some of my favorite tree and forest images are taken with a long lens during inclement weather - weather it be snow or rain. This is from a foggy and rain filled morning where I intended shooting a wide angle sunrise view but the weather had different plans. Clouds never cleared toward sunrise, and the fog and rain started soon after. During my hike out these oak trees popped under the foggy and wet conditions and suddenly my spirits rose. I moved as far back as I could and used a 120mm focal length to isolate the most colorful section and maximize the benefits of the fog to eliminate the busy background trees. A beautiful mood was the result.
