A little before sunset I drove to Pyramid Lake near Jasper, Canada looking for a good sunset composition. Not finding any, I wandered along the perimeter of the lake and then soon after sunset took a hiking trail into the adjacent aspen forest, hoping the trail might provide a leading line through a forest composition. I walked slowly up the trail, framing potential images in my mind while also keeping an eye out for bears in the twilight. Having again found no decent compositions, I turned around and walked back down the trail. Part way down I found this composition in the gathering dusk.
