Heaven and Hell

CO CR 69 to 160
This photo shows the elements in their most intense form - especially FIRE, It was taken during the Spring Fire, one of the most devastating wildfires in Colorado's history. I shot this photo from the patio of our house, over a distance of about 30 miles. Accelerated by insane WINDS, that day the fire had exploded and was burning out of control. We could see even from our house, how the flames were devouring trees and entire mountain sides, changing the look of EARTH drastically in mere minutes. The effect on the super heated AIR was so extreme, that it created its own weather systems with thunderstorm clouds forming from within the inferno. But even in this nightmare of elements, there was beauty to be found: When you look closely at the image, you can see the stars including the Milky Way sparkling in all of the chaos. That's why I decided to call this photo "Heaven and Hell".
