I did a three-day, two-night kayaking trip to photograph the Northwestern Glacier. As the late-night sun began to set, I could tell there was potential for a really colorful sunset. I paddled out into the middle of the bay, and waited. I was rewarded with one of the most colorful sunsets I have ever photographed. There was absolutely no wind, which created a perfect reflection. Once I got the kayak into position to shoot the photo, I had to wait for all my paddle-stroke ripples to dissipate. I had to hand-hold my camera extremely still in order to take a series of pictures to create this HDR image.
