Flower Extravaganza

A venerable sea of poppies coats a hillside in the Sierra foothills. Although it may not be immediately obvious how this photo shows a change of seasons, the river in the distance provides a clue. This river is flowing strongly due to snowmelt--a carryover from the winter season. But the hillside above the river clearly shows that spring is underway. It was a glorious scene to behold.
