I get up early to the chirping of birds. The sound is music to my ears. The sun is not up yet and I take a quick bath in the biting cold water. As I step outside I’m greeted by the sight of this cute fella. The most popular and most photographed location for the Himalayan bulbul is Chopta in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state of India. These birds are also called Bulbul. As I am based in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, Chopta is some 250 KM from my home. Out of this 80 percent of the route are hills and some 150 KM are above the altitude of 1500 meters on narrow two-lane roads. It can take anywhere between 8 to 10 hours to reach, depending on weather and breaks for food and some on route bird photography.
