Description

The Wet Mountain Valley in South Central Colorado is known for its unusual weather pattern due to some extreme geographical features: Bordered to the West by the 14,000 foot peaks of the Southern Rocky Mountains and to the East by the almost 13,000 foot high range of the Wet Mountains, the narrow but 70 mile-long Wet Mountain Valley is always ready to produce crazy weather. It may be bright sunshine a couple of miles away on the other side of the mountain ranges, but inside the high elevation valley a big shower is drenching everything - making for a spectacular scenery. In this image, big sheets of rain are slowly drifting like sails through the interior of the valley, dwarfing everything.
