Description

The Sierra Wave. An unpredictable phenomenon caused by lee winds hitting the Sierra Nevada Mountains, forcing the winds to rise and water vapor to cool. As the rising winds condense they create these types of lenticular clouds. This cloud forming weather phenomenon is used by glider pilots to gain altitude and extend the length of the glider flight.
