Notes

North-facing shots can show the earth rotating under the North Star, Polaris, a south-facing star trials shot shows that the earth's axis points to a spot below the horizon in that direction.

Sixty-eight 30-second exposures were combined to create this result.

Description

It can be hard to get a decent star trails reflection shot, since a reflection isn't perfectly efficient. A water-reflected image tends to be a couple of stops darker than the direct view, and particularly at night, slight movements in the water can wipe out the reflection of dimmer stars in long exposures.
