We watched with horror some visitors here who underestimated the effect of the surf combined with the slippery lava rock in places, including near Thor's Well where a young woman almost went in. For you light-chasers visiting for the first time, keep your wits about you, watch you footing, and it is OK to use a little zoom near Cook's Chasm, Thor's Well, and Devil's Churn. For lodging, you can't beat Yachats, where their motto is "We're here because we're not all there!"
No shoreline assignment would be complete without a visit to Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coast. Here is a view of Cook's Chasm there, complete with a bit of Pacific wildness and the cape's lava rock, June, 2018.
