I spent several days photographing the unique landscape of the Valley Of Fire State Park in Nevada. I hiked the drainages to find these side-by-side arches. I thought this would make a great Milky Way shot if everything lined up. I used a smartphone app to determine if the Milky Way would rise over these arches. So, I made myself comfortable, and waited. At dusk, I set my camera up and took a picture of the arches since I didn’t have my gel lights with me and I wanted the foreground subjects to be evenly lit. Then, I took another image after the Milky Way had risen. In post-processing, I combined the two pictures.
