These sand tufas near Mono Lake rise up out of the sand like strange alien structures. The eastern sky was cloudy and I waited what seemed like forever for the sunlight to break through the clouds. Staring at the LCD screen in live view for the precise moment. Finally, I saw the sparkle on the screen and hit the shutter. It was a pretty cool thing to see. The only bad thing was the sand. Unless you like tiny grains of sand sticking to you, bring a towel to sit on.
