The historic town of Bodie is 13 mile drive in from Highway 395 in California's Eastern Sierra region.
I prefer to push the limits of my camera. This image was achieved with a single shutter release activation. Nothing was faked (like mirroring the sky into the puddle, or copying the sky or foreground from another time, or sky captured in a different shot or taken at a different focal length).
It's not every day you get to shoot in an authentic Wild West ghost town, but we brought several photographers in to shoot the historic gold mining town of Bodie at night! Fortunately, on this night a major rain storm in the afternoon provided large puddles to reflect the Milky Way in.
