Over the past year, my family has taken more evening drives than I can remember. We would go out along the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) to catch a sunset and enjoy the views. Usually, we were always alone. We could pull out some chairs or sit in watch in the car.
My wife and I were out on an afternoon drive when we came to the Woolyback Overlook after leaving the Smoky's to cruise home along the BRP. The sun was starting to set, and the cloud shelf had an opening in it (I could see through past the ridgeline). We decided to stay and see if the light would break through, and not to our surprise; we were greeted with a lovely golden glow that filled Maggie Valley.
