I woke up this morning with the intention of going up to Mono Lake and shooting the tufa at sunrise. When I got down to my car and started out towards US 395 I saw we had these beautiful clouds in the sky. I made the quick decision to change my plans and to head out to Convict Lake instead. I had been out to Convict Lake several times and it had become one of my favorite photo locations but I had always missed having great clouds in the sky. This morning I was blessed with having them so I knew I had to go out there. I got set up to take my shot, hoping and praying that the clouds would break at just the right moment and I would have the alpine glow in the clouds and have Mt Laurel reflect that in its face. While I was not fortunate to capture that, I was gifted with enough break in the clouds that I captured this band of sunlight as it bathed the mountains in its morning light.
