The Monarch Made Me Stop

A late afternoon drive along Oak creek netted me this American butterfly photo. After a saw a flashes of orange on the blooming rabbit brush I stopped the car and took a good look at what was flying around the yellow brush. To my surprise I saw two monarch butterflies resting on the rabbit brush. I grabbed my camera, fired a few shots of the monarchs and then they few off. I searched for the monarchs for about an hour. I walked up and down the creek, but those butterflies had left. The only thing hanging around the rabbit brush was these American lady butterflies. So tired and thirsty, I took what nature had placed right in front of me this beautifully patterned butterfly. I might have missed an opportunity to check off an item off my photographic checklist, but I am happy with what I got.
