Description

These small snow chunks were all that remained in late September high in the Sawtooth Wilderness after a hot summer melt. By spring the entire ravine you see is filled with compacted ice and snow from winter that lingers much of the year. I decided to include the hiker passing through the talus drainage to better tell the story of the image using a 16mm lens. In that way I could move close to the snow and make its interesting textures prominent and use the sweep of the snow to lead the viewer through the image.
