Description

The first snows of the season hit the upper elevations of the Sawtooth Wilderness in late September, and the transition to clear skies made for wonderful but fleeting photo opportunities. I selected this vantage point as the marsh shrubs were so colorful and thought they would contrast nicely with the more distant mountains. I manually blended a shot using a polarizer to minimize glare from the trees and shrubs and blended it with a shot without the filter to maximize the reflection. Polarizing lenses tend to create harsh sky transitions in blue skies, so I wanted to have an exposure that eliminated such unnatural look.
