Description

One of NH's most classic and recognizable mountain views encompassing the east face of the northern Presidential Range including Mount Washington. I needed an image with mountain snow, but even in early May the budding spring foliage had not fully emerged. So I decided to create a composite of the scene which nature was failing to provide. In some years, lingering mountain snow last well into the spring.
Using the exact same camera position and focal length, I shot the top part of the scene 1 week earlier than the lower portion which included the budding trees. Late snows provided substantial but short lived winter conditions on the top of the mountain. Budding trees gave some texture and color to the lower portion of the view. Two rows of horizontal stitched images were used to create the complete image. The procedure was repeated 1 week later, at the same time of day (just after sunrise) and the two panoramas were manually merged using layers.
