While on a walk looking for birds to photograph I found this Clark's Grebe swimming along in a small pond. It wasn't until I had reviewed my photos days later that I noticed that the poor bird was tangled in fishing line. Had I noticed at the time I would have done my best to help, though I doubt if I would have been able to reach it. By the time I was able to return to the pond, the bird was nowhere to be found. This image haunts me as this poor creature was left isolated and alone and likely died a slow and painful death. I share it, because I hope it will serve as a reminder to be aware of our own actions and how they may impact the life of another.
