The Watcher

A Red Tail Hawk keeps a watchful out for prey on the big meadows of Bridgeport.
I had been trying to get a photo of one of the hawks that call the big meadows of Bridgeport home for a couple of years before I finally got a good shot of one. Always in past I had parked my car and then walked slowly back into position to try to capture an image of them only to have my efforts be ruined by either a passing motor vehicle on the road or my own misstep, causing the bird to take off. This time I used a more stealthy approach and did not take my tripod with me. By taking my time, stopping to let the bird grow accustomed to my presence I was able to get this shot of it as it watched the meadows for any rodents out in the open. They are such magnificent looking animals! I was blessed with keeping him calm and not invading his space and by the lack of cars traveling out to the twin lakes on this morning.
