Description
"Full many a flower is born to blush unseen and waste its sweetness on the desert air" is the most famous and frequently quoted lines in Thomas Gray's "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard." Now, Im not trying to be deep or be a poetry snob. I just like the way "born to blush" sounded when I heard Susan Sarandon's character Annie Savoy say it in the 1988 movie Bull Durham.
As I was out in the Nevada desert looking for anything to photograph and I stopped along the road near a group of rocks. I bent down to tie my shoe when I noticed this tiny cluster of flowers that I almost stepped on. The tiny white and magenta petals were calling out to me. These wildflowers were born to blush, but their sweetness wasn't wasted on the hot Nevada air.
