Schooling Hammerheads

One subject on my photo bucket list was to capture a quality image of schooling hammerheads The number one place in the world to see schooling hammerheads is Cocos Island, Costa Rica. Getting there requires a 30-hour open ocean boat ride. It is high-adrenaline diving, with strong currents and deep dive sites. I have been there three times using rebreathers which recirculates the air, and generates almost no bubbles. This requires a specialized certification training course but it is the only way for a diver to get close enough to the sharks without the bubble exhaust scaring them away. It was a lot of time and energy to be able to capture this image but it was worth it to check off another lifetime photographic goal.
