Waves and Tide Pools
When I think about how I would describe what motivates me to pursue a photographic image, I think of the well-known saying “The defining moment” by Cartier-Bresson. There is such wisdom in those words that describes what we are always trying to achieve in search for the defining moment when everything seems to come together, and are pulled towards it, and into it, like a gravitational force we have no control over. It is in this moment that we feel a connection to something special. To something greater than us, that we instinctively must capture in a way that represents the pure emotion that transcends through us in that moment. Led by light and defined by contrast, the moment must be captured. It is both our gift… and our curse, as we will always pursue this moment of when it all comes together.
